North and South, the Musical is a stage adaptation of English author Elizabeth Gaskell's 1855 novel. This two-act musical tells the story of Margaret Hale, a minister's daughter, who is forced to move with her father from the beautiful rural south of England to the northern industrial town of Milton. Amidst the social unrest of cotton mill workers fighting for a better life, Margaret meets John Thornton, young owner of a mill. Their compelling and tempestuous romance is set against a backdrop of growing tension between "Masters" and "Hands," in a conflict-ridden world where only love can conquer all differences.
